Study Abroad
While our direct exchange program in Russia has been suspended since 2022 due to the war in Ukraine, our students continue to partake in language and cultural experiences through external programs in Russian-speaking and post-Soviet region.

Recent Highlights
Jessie Beddow – (2025)
Jessie Beddow, a Russian Studies major with a minor in Political Science, will participate in a summer program for Russian language through American Councils in Tallinn, Estonia. There, she will study Russian intensively while living with a host family and engaging in local culture. Her participation is supported by two competitive awards, the Bryan Bennett Scholarship for Study Abroad and the Thomas Rivers Scholarship for Study Abroad, which together fund a significant portion of the program.
Sonny Lehto – Studied in Riga, Latvia (2024)
Wayne (Sonny) Lehto, was awarded a ProjectGO Award, including all expenses paid (flight, tuition, room and board, etc.). He studied in Riga, Latvia for a two-month program of studying third-year Russian language in an immersive environment.
ProjectGO targets ROTC and military affiliated students who wish to pursue careers as officers, linguists and other specialized tracks within the military.
